For many people around the world San Simeon means the site of the famous Hearst Castle, but this coastal town offers much more to anyone willing to spend some time uncovering its treasures. The main center of San Simeon sits about three miles south of the castle's entrance.

Whether you're a traveler taking your first trip, or an adventuring local on a repeat visit, this stretch of Highway 1 is sure to enrich your spirit and engage your imagination; it's no wonder the National Geographic Society recognizes this part of California as the "Middle Kingdom." Navigate through the Middle Kingdom along its coastal Byway and reconnect your soul to natural and historic treasures that lurk within sight and close proximity of the roadway.

Legendary Highway 1 in San Simeon, designated as a National Scenic Byway, is considered a destination unto itself. Located at the southern end of the Big Sur region, it provides an exceptional travel experience for visitors as one of the most beautiful ocean views in California.

The San Simeon Chamber of Commerce, located located in the Cavalier Plaza, is staffed with friendly volunteers. Maps, brochures and informative displays are located in the office to enhance your visit to the region. For more information call 800-342-5613.

Our proximity to the Pacific Ocean provides for a temperate climate year round. Winters are mild and rainy days are interspersed with periods of bright sunshine. Coastal fog cools the summer mornings, but usually lifts by early afternoon. The best weather is often during the spring and fall.
